Car Rental Tips
Find the best rates. Search this website for rental companies in your city. Contact them about rates.
Rates will obviously vary from company to company, depending on vehicle availability, location and other factors.
How about insurance? When renting a car, you'll be offered a collision damage waiver (CDW) and a loss damage waiver
(LDW). The first covers you in the event of a collision, while the second covers any loss to the rental company. Both
kinds of coverage are a good idea, but not if they duplicate coverage already included in your own insurance policy.
Book early. Reserve your car at least a week in advance to save your time and money.
Prepaid gas. From a financial point of view, it is a bad idea unless you're absolutely sure that you'll use the full tank.
Car rental at airports can be more expensive due to taxes and fees.
Rates - Usually rates are based on a 24 hour rental day starting with the hour when you take the vehicle.
Base rate - is the cost of car rental without mileage (if applicable), taxes, fees, surcharges, and options
(child seats, navigational systems, etc.)
Don't forget to ask about additional charges.
One-way rentals are very convenient. Ask about drop-off charges. They can be exorbitant.
Tolls and Violations - Toll violations and vehicle citations at times do occur, and as a rule, the renter is responsible for the payment of these charges, plus administrative costs per violation.
